1. Cheat

In Pune,
at the Blue Sea Hotel,

A lively party was in full swing, filled with college students, all around 21 or 22 years old. The room buzzed with chatter and excitement.

"Where is Rihan? It's his birthday, and he's not even here yet!" someone called out.

This is Rihan Oberoiโ€”the eldest son of the Oberoi family. Slightly arrogant, short-tempered, and a man who had never so much as glanced at another girl. Even from a young age, he had a sharp mind and an undeniable cockiness. With a muscular build, a strikingly handsome face, and an impressive height, he was the heartthrob of the college. Every girl tried her best to win his heart, but he never paid attention to anyone. He had eyes for only one girlโ€”the one he considered his life and the one he wanted to marry.

All eyes turned to his girlfriend, Vanshika, who stood elegantly among them. This is Vanshika Singhaniaโ€”Rihan's girlfriend. She was undeniably attractive, standing at about five feet tall, with fair skin and mid-length hair. Tonight, she had chosen to wear a red one-piece dress that barely reached her thighs. As always, she left her hair down and adorned her lips with bright red lipstick.

When people asked about Rihan, she responded with an air of indifference, "He must be on his way. How would I know where he is?"

Hearing this, no one pressed her further. Meanwhile, a group of girls whispered amongst themselves, wondering what Rihan saw in her that made him fall so deeply.

Moments later, the lights in the party hall dimmed, and a soft spotlight illuminated a figure standing at the entrance. It was none other than Rihan Oberoi.

As soon as he stepped inside, the room erupted in cheers, and music filled the air. Vanshika approached him with a bright smile. "Happy birthday, Rihan," she said.

Rihan smiled back and took her hand, leading her to the stage. A romantic song played, and the couple swayed together in a graceful dance.

After a while, Vanshika whispered, "Rihan, I have a bit of a headache. I'll be back in a while."

Concern flickered in his eyes. "Wait, I'll come with you."

"No, no... You enjoy the party. I'll be back soon," she quickly replied before slipping away.

Time passed, but Vanshika did not return. Unease crept into Rihan's mind. Worried, he decided to look for her. He checked the hotel room he had booked for her, but she wasnโ€™t there. He searched everywhere, growing increasingly anxious.

As he passed by another hallway, he heard the muffled sound of sobbing from one of the rooms. The door was slightly ajar. A strange feeling settled in his chest as he pushed it open.

His world shattered.
Inside, a boy and a girl were lost in each other. And the girlโ€”
It was Vanshika.

His Girlfriend Vanshika.

For a moment, he stood frozen in place, unable to process what he was seeing. Then, as he turned to leave, his hand accidentally knocked over a vase, shattering it against the floor. The sudden noise startled the couple, making them look up in alarm.

When Vanshika saw Rihan standing there, she paled. Hastily, she adjust her clothes and ran after him.

"Rihan... Rihan! Wait, listen to me!" she pleaded, grabbing his arm.

Without hesitation, Rihan turned and slapped her hard across the face. A stunned silence fell over the party guests, who had gathered to witness the drama unfold.

His voice was dangerously low. "What should I listen to? After what I just saw, you still have something to say? Go ahead!"

He gripped her wrists tightly, making her wince. Then, with a forceful shove, he let go, causing her to stumble. The boy she had been with caught her before she fell.

With an air of defiance, the boy turned to Rihan. "If you had treated her properly, this wouldnโ€™t have happened!"

Rihanโ€™s fury erupted. "You finally showed your true face! You're a disgrace to the name of friendship! If you value your life, don't ever speak to me like that again. And never show me your face after today!"

The boyโ€”Rudra, Rihan's best friendโ€”remained silent, realizing the depth of Rihanโ€™s rage. Vanshika, too, was speechless, fear flickering in her eyes. No one dared to intervene.

Without another word, Rihan stormed out of the party. The once-lively atmosphere grew eerily quiet, and soon, the guests began dispersing.

Rihan felt hollow. The one person he had considered his everything had betrayed him. His chest ached with an unbearable pain. He wanted to cry, but the tears refused to come.

When he reached home, his father, Arav Oberoi, was waiting in the living room. Rihan was barely holding himself together. The alcohol in his system made his steps unsteady. As soon as Arav ji saw him, he rushed over and helped him sit down.

"Are you drunk..?" Arav ji asked, concern lacing his voice.

But Rihan just stared at him before pulling him into a tight embrace. "Dad... why does everyone always leave me? Donโ€™t I deserve love? Why does this always happen to me?"

Arav ji was taken aback. He didnโ€™t fully understand what had happened, but now wasnโ€™t the time to ask questions. He gently patted Rihan's back, trying to comfort him.

"Bring some lemon water," he instructed a servant before calling his assistant. "Find out what happened tonight. I want details."

After settling Rihan in his room, Arav ji returned to the hall, waiting for his assistant. When the man arrived, he relayed everything that had transpired.

The Next Day,

A soft ray of sunlight streamed through the window and hit Rihan's face. He squirmed a little before finally getting up. Suddenly, his head started aching, so he held his head in his hands and sat there for a moment.

A little while later, Arav Ji walked into the room, handed him a glass of lemon water, and said - "I don't know who that girl was or why you fought with her, but whatever happened, let it go and move on with your life. Whether she was your friend or something else, forget about it, rihan. You're grown up now, and it's time for you to take over the family business."

Arav Ji didn't know the whole story because Rihan had made sure no one found out what had really happened. He didn't want anyone to know the truth. Hearing his father's words, Rihan replied, - "Okay, I agree with you, but I need to learn a few things and understand the business better. So, I want to go America."

Arav Ji, after hearing him out, said, "Fine, do what you think is best."

Second side
In Bangalore,

The loud sound of gunfire echoed through the area. Bullets were flying everywhere, and people were running for their lives. Among them were two girls and a few others, all trapped in the chaos. Soon, about 10-11 men holding guns captured them, forcing them to stand at gunpoint in front of their boss. After a brief conversation, the boss pointed his gun at them, ready to shoot, but before he could, a hidden girl fired a shot at him. The bullet hit the boss's hand, causing him to scream in pain.

Suddenly, a voice called out, " Vritika... Vritika... "

It was 7:30 in the morning. Tanisha said while working on her laptop, "Vritika, get up! You didn't go to the gym, you didn't go for a run, and now you'll be late for the studio! Are you even listening to me?"

Vritika woke up suddenly, drops of sweat on her forehead. Tanisha, who was working on her laptop nearby, noticed her weird behavior.

Just then, Jenny entered the room and said, "Are you two deaf? I've been calling you to last 15 minutes! Breakfast is ready. When are you both coming down?"

She looked at Tanisha, who was staring at Vritika. "What are you looking at so intensely?" Jenny followed her gaze and saw Vritika standing quietly on the balcony, lost in thought.

Jenny walked over to Vritika and asked, "Hey, what's wrong? Why are you standing here?"

Tanisha replied, "I think she had a bad dream." Jenny quickly added, "That's why I keep telling you to stop watching so many action movies all night! Leave it. Don't think too much about it. Come downstairs, eat breakfast, and let's get going to work."

As she headed downstairs, Jenny warned, "If you two don't come down in five minutes, I'm not waiting for you!"

A little later, all three were sitting at the dining table, having breakfast, and then they went off to their respective jobs.

This was Vritika's life. She lived with her friends Tanisha and Jenny in a rented house in Bangalore. The house was small but cozy. The three girls lived alone, managing the household and their responsibilities. The house had two floorsโ€”a cute little kitchen and hall on the ground floor, and two rooms upstairs. One room was a guest room, and the other was where all three of them slept together. The room was so charming that anyone would love to stay there.

There was also a large, beautiful balcony. On one side, there was a small swing, and on the other, a bigger swing, along with a sofa set. Plants decorated the corners, making the balcony even more appealing, and the floor was covered in artificial grass. The balcony had fairy lights along the walls, which made it even prettier in the evening.

After coming home from work, they three would usually relax on the balcony, chatting or sometimes even falling asleep there.

All three girls were smart and beautiful. Vritika had fair skin, a slim figure, long brown hair, light pink lips, and striking green bottle-colored eyes that seemed mysterious yet gorgeous. She had a tattoo of a simple belt on her right hand.

Jenny, on the other hand, was adorable. She was slightly shorter than Vritika, with soft cheeks and short-length dark brown hair that made her even more attractive. Her eyes had a light yellow shade, making her look like a princess.

Then there was Tanisha, almost like Vritika's twin. Her hair was straight and about the same length as Vritika's, light brown in color, Tanisha's height matched Vritika's, and her eyes had a blend of green and light purple shades, like they were telling a story of the deep sea.

All three had great dressing sense. Though they looked innocent, they had fierce tempersโ€”but only when needed. They were close friends, just like sisters, always staying together and supporting each other.

Vritika was a photographer, studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Tanisha was an interior designer, and Jenny was a developer. All of them were talented and responsible. They were pursuing their master's degrees and only went to college occasionally. They also had part-time jobs. However, during exams, they had to attend college regularly. Despite not going to college often, they were the favorite students of all the faculty members and always topped their exams.

Most of the other girls in college were jealous of them and tried to come up with new ways to trouble them, but they never succeeded. It was obvious why. After all, the ones trying to bring them down were rich, spoiled girls. Scheming and pulling others down was in their blood. These girls also studied at RV University, one of the best universities in Bangalore.

Although Vritika, Tanisha, and Jenny didn't come from middle-class families, for some reason, they lived separately from their families. They had gotten into this college on their own merit and scholarships. This was the life of Vritika, Tanisha, and Jennyโ€”the heroines of this story.

To be continued...

Would Rihan ever just let Vanshika goโ€ฆ?

what was bothering Vritika?

And why were these three living alone in Bangalore?
